MASLOW'S THEORY NO. 5.1 #SENIDETUTA
MASLOW INDUSTRIES
Juan Aizpitarte, Fermín Díez de Ulzurrun.
The notion of landscape, more specifically the cross-border landscape, is linked to an infinite number of parallel, often discordant histories. The duality caused by the idea of dividing with borders generates a proliferation of narratives that each side interprets according to its cultural paradigms. Those stories that come from the close relationship with the territory, as sensitive psychogeographical memories or those that are constructed as myths, especially which are imposed by the gaze of power. In turn, the symbolic weight of the frontier has been an object of fascination and an instrument to justify all kinds of aberrations in the name of difference. It also serves as a refuge from neighbouring injustice, by exile. The project, curated by Juan Aizpitarte and Fermín Díez de Ulzurrun, explores through a "tourist" format. Like the bus trip to the border from the bisector; from those ties that are established transversally, to the construction of the borders.
MASLOW INDUSTRIES engendered in 2014 as an implementation of some postulates, developed in the Maslow exercises blog by some artists, cultural workers and activists such as Julian Oliver, Gordan Savičić, Danja Vasiliev (The Critical Engineering Working Group), César Novella Alba, Peio Izcue Basail, Iñaki Arzoz, Fermín Díez de Ulzurrun and Mawatres who introduced new, mainly theoretical works that questioned the global organizational and productive models.
Fermín Díez de Ulzurrun and Peio Izcue formed the core of the group and together with Mawatres, managed various curatorial, editorial and production projects. It is worth mentioning their collaboration with artists such as Levi Orta, Nora Aurrekoetxea & Laura Ruiz, Igor Rezola, Ro Caminal, Elisa Arteta, Alexandra García, Maria Stoyanova, Juan Aizpitarte, Andrés Vial, Miguel Ayesa, Oier Gil & Abel Jimenez Rivas. They have also developed curatorial projects of their own and in collaboration with curators including but not limited to Arturo / fito Rodríguez, David G. Torres, Ana García Alarcón.
