BARBERO DE SUEZ
PROJECT FOR THE CREATION AND STAGING OF THE PLAY :
BARBERO DE SUEZ (THE BARBER OF SUEZ)
THE ORIGIN OF THE PROJECT
In October 2009, as part of the Translatines festival, organized by Théâtre des Chimères, Ludo Estebeteguy proposed a theatrical reading of Patricia Zangaro's text, translated by Françoise Thanas (official translator of the Argentine author's texts). It was the opportunity for the actor to discover the writing of the playwright. Without knowing, a bond was being knitted...
In June 2012, they met in an old café in San Telmo (Buenos Aires, Argentina). At this meeting the project was born.
In February 2013, the company Jour de Fête Cie received the first version of the text ‘El Barbero de Suez’ written specifically for Ludo Estebeteguy.
The readings came together, the idea of the structure became concrete, an artistic team established step by step. Take the time, do not rush.
In October 2013, Ludo Estebeteguy met Françoise Thanas in a Parisian café.
In February 2014, we received the French translation.
SYNOPSIS
Two young men. One European, sitting on the terrace of the Bar au Clou in Bayonne; and the other one, the waiter from South America. Lost in their thoughts, in their respective memories, they scrutinize each other, they avoid each other. From these words that have not been said, a desire arises, a confrontation of two brutally different universes that nevertheless leave the possibility of a fortuitous encounter.
